Ron, Are you talking "finishing" or "fill" here. The way to eliminate "fill" is to get the foam right to start with. I used the 1.4 oz deck cloth over my "KR cloth" and even it required some amount of "finishing" before priming, generally some light sanding. Your post would suggest that when your epoxy/fiber layup cured you were ready for primer/paint. I personally would not suggest "hard-shelling" as the method to cure irregularities in the foam. The best way to eliminate irregularities in the foam is with a new piece of foam. Larry Flesner
