If Wal-Mart, Lowe's, or Home Depot colors will work it should only take maybe two cans of the color (spatter) and one of the clear plus your base coat. I used more because I "DIDN'T READ THE DIRECTIONS ON THE CAN". I tried to use just the spatter paint as a cover paint on the inside of my gullwing door. I had to put in on so heavy to cover that it had still not dried after 2 or three days and I scraped it off with a razor. I then "READ THE DIRECTIONS ON THE CAN", applied the base coat (grey primer in my case), put on some spatter and finished with the clear. Worked great. Your results may vary. It depends on whether you READ THE DIRECTIONS ON THE CAN" or not. :-) Larry Flesner
