? Is the KR-2S more stable/less twitchy in pitch?

I think less, but even the 2 is not difficult to get used to.

? I've read that the KR-2 requires a light touch ("fly
by thought"). Most of my flight time is in a Cessna
172, and I'm thinking about leaving a project known to
be sensitive in pitch (a Polliwagen), I'd like
something that I can trim for hands off flying.

Yes, you fly by thought and a little physical input. Hands off, forget it.
All my time was in a 150 before I flew my first KR.

? How well does the tri-gear KR-2S handle grass
strips?

I hear not well and I would expect not well.

? What kind of performance can I realistically expect
from the KR-2S with a 75hp revmaster engine?

Probably around 160 to 170 with a conventional gear and light with the CG
correct.

? I'm a bit scared of wood composite construction. Is
there really anything to be worried about? I'm
thinking about glue life, fatigue, warping/internal
stresses from moisture; things like that.

KRs have been flying for over 30 years. You need to keep them out of the
weather as much as possible. Some boats are made of wood.

? The AS504x airfoil: how does it compare to the
RAF-48 airfoil in the real world? From what I
understand, its an all around higher performance
airfoil, while still maintaining the same sort of
flight characteristics as the RAF48. Are there any
downsides to this airfoil? From what I understand,
NLF airfoils are very finicky to surface
irregularities.

I am sure that Mark L. will answer this one. The main down side that I
would guess at, is that the new one does not have the years of experience on
a KR that the old one does. Time will tell, but I'll bet that the results
will be in favor of the new one.

? Is the seat:controls adjustable in any way? From
what I'm seeing, the seat is glassed into place, and
you pick rudder and stick positioning based on where
you feel comfortable with.

A lot of discussion has taken place concerning adjustable seats. I have
never seen an application of any. You can build your seats so they fit you
and you can make them adjustable by adding and removing cushions.

? What is a real-world cost to build for the KR-2S? I
have the engine and VFR instruments (minus navradio)
already.

My experience is generally 10 to 12 and up depending on instruments and
engine and how many times you build it.

? Is the KR-2S aerobatic-capable (with proper oil and
fuel arrangements)? I've seen mention of the KR-2
handling +6 Gs.

I have seen some aerobatics and heard of some, but it is not the norm.

? Is anyone in the Triad, NC (Winston-Salem,
Greensboro, High-Point) area building one or have one
that flys? I live in Belews Creek, and would like to
stop by and take a look.

We are in Lexington SC and Jack Cooper is near Raleigh, I think. You are
welcome to come down anytime. Just write ahead so you will know if either
or both of us will be available.
