I've got a near-zero time HAPI engine with a POSA carb. This rig was acquired for my old scrapped T2 project. Right now, it's mounted on an engine stand and attached to a full set of remote controls. I built a box with key switch electric starter, mag, electronic ignition, alternator switches, throttle and mixture as well. Gravity fuel feed comes from a little 1 quart mower tank suspended from a garage rafter. I inverted the intake so the carb's above the engine, as a means to make tuning the carb easier. When I make everything working correctly, I'll reinstall everything correctly. The idea was that if I decided to build another project, I could run the motor now and again to keep the seals and gaskets from drying out. If I decided to sell the motor, the prospective owner could hear it run.
From what I've read there are many who consider a POSA a POS. As yet I have no opinion in that regard because I've not had my engine running long enough to come to a decision. The engine starts off the mag every time, and then stops after a few seconds. Longest it's run is about 15 seconds. I suspect that inadequate fuel pressure is the culprit, so I'll suspend a bigger tank to see if it makes a difference. Somewhere around my garage there's an old jerry can with a petcock I installed on the bottom. However, the POSA could be the problem as well. Any thoughts on fuel pressure and POSA carbs that might explain why my engine dies after a few seconds? -- Daniel E. Root ro...@llnl.gov KR2s builder wannabee
