I'd like to point out that the RAF48 is a very good airfoil and many have flown thousands of accumulated hours with it.
The AS50xx series of airfoil provides for a Laminar Wing, which allows for increased performance through drag reduction. The other benefits offered by the AS50xx is the ability to build a stronger spar and increased volume in the wing for fuel.
