weave cloth
Good day to everyone on the KRNET
First of all I would like to mention that I ( like many others I suspect)
rely heavily on the "NET"? for guidance on my project and I forgot to thank
those who responded to my recent questions regarding sources for foam.

I did not find 6" but did find 4" and was eager to get to work. The foam I
found was at a local building supply house and is the blue DOW foam. By the
way this turned out to be much more difficult to sand to shape because it
is a more dense composition than the urethane foam I have been using.

I have built my aft deck and am having a problem finding "silk weave" glass
cloth as mentioned on ML's excellent build site

I have found plain weave, satin weave, crow's foot -etc, but no silk weave.

Can anyone recommend a source for the silk weave or is this just another
name for another type of weave?

One website mentioned that their 1.5 oz plain weave was good for a smooth
finish.

Also would it be wise to use a lighter cloth to save weight if it gives a
smooth finish ?

I have seen cloth in the .5 oz weight. Does this cloth? produce an even
smoother finish ?

Does anyone know whether the .5oz cloth would be harder to work ?

Thanks,
Jim Litchfield
