The KR gathering was mostly the usual crowd, minus a whole bunch of folks from
the midwest and east coast. It was a bit disappointing that of all the
California KRs, only Mike Stirewalt attended. Not that we weren't glad to see
Mike, but the overall turnout from California for a west coast fly in was kind
of sad. We did get to see three really nice KRs and KR projects that were
local to the area (and owned by the hosts).

Awards:
Longest Distance - Jeff Scott
Best paint and interior - Kim Neibouer (I probably misspelled his last name)
Best Firewall Foreward - Jeff Scott
Best KR - Kim Neibouer
Peoples Choice - Jeff Scott
There was one other award that was won by Kim Neibouer, but right now I can't
recall exactly what it was.

We decided not to decide about the site for next years KR gathering. A vote
was taken, and rather than selecting a site, we are going to invite anyone
interested in hosting to make a presentation on the KRNet to host the
Gathering, then will run a Survey to see which site wins. Additionally, we
will put together a steering committee to help manage the funds and future
gatherings. Right now, the definitions is a bit nebulous, but the concept was
passed on a voice vote.

I've put together a short slide show from my trip from Los Alamos to MMV, and
will put together another with some photos of the planes and some of the people
at the gathering. I'll send out an email and link once I get them done. I'm
sure Mark and several others have a lot more than I do and will be posting
eventually.

BTW, I am back in Los Alamos now. 7.4 hrs from MMV to Los Alamos. 40 gallons
of fuel with a burn rate of 5.4 gph and an average speed of 136.4 kts, which
includes 3 climbs to 11,500', and one to 13,500' from sea level to get over the
coastal weather leaving MMV.

Thank you to this years hosts. They did a great job and made everyone feel
welcome. We had some interesting seminars, but also had time to run across the
street to the museum to see all the wonderful planes parked there with the
Spruce Goose. It was a lot of fun.
