The standard would be a friction lock type. The vernier takes a bit to get used to as a throttle, (must be a twisty thing),but would work. If you have never used a vernier throttle, I would not recommend using one on a first flight in a newly built experimental aircraft. No heckling from the Bonanza folks. Roger rbaalman at cox.net
