My tailwheel instructor was very good. He had me make fast taxi runs up
and down the runway in his Citabria until the tailwheel rudder dance
clicked with me before we did takeoffs and landings. He knew what RPM
gave us the correct speed to get the tailwheel up, but to not go fast
enough to take off. Once the rudder dance was mastered the rest was
easy. For some reason most other instructors I hear about go right into
touch and gos without doing high speed runs first. I really don't
understand that logic because it is hard to master the rudder dance in
small bits and pieces during touch and gos.

I did 9 hours of taxiing before flying my KR-1 for the first time.
