>>Have any of you all that are Steve's friends on KRnet heard from him
of late, or the fate of NVaero and potential future KR2 builders?

I don't think we have to worry about the "fate of future KR builders".
Steve is pretty burnt out at the moment, and seems relieved to put KR
parts out of his misery, but he may get over it someday. I've heard from
several folks who think it's the "end of the KR series", but really,
the KR community will soldier on, as it has for years. We'd miss him
sorely, especially since he's made the molds for AS504x wing skins, and
especially the Diehl gear, sticks, and other stuff he's taken on. Over
the years, folks have filled the voids by making certain parts available
that fall into their realm of capability...earning a little "beer money"
and helping out other builders. Wings can still be built the
old-fashioned way...by hand, and maybe Steve will pare his operation
down to just a few critical items, such as the wing skins. Some parts
are way more trouble to make than it's worth to him, but somebody else
on the list may have the expertise and equipment on hand to knock out
that particular item with ease. And when nose gear struts dry up,
somebody will need one bad enough to have a CNC bender make one for
them, and will have a lot of ten made to defray the setup
costs...selling the remainder to other builders.

We'll get there, together. And if we learn nothing else, it will be
patience with other builders who are helping us build small parts of our
airplanes! The "death of the KR community" has been greatly exaggerated...
