I got it where I get all me best gems of information...but we won't go there! I thought it was "common knowledge", but that's not always a viable guide to accuracy. And it may be that you are talking liability only, and I am talking liability/hull insurance that your typical "first-time" KR pilot would likely buy. Visit http://spirit.eaa.org/insurance/articles/2005-12-15_insurance.asp for details on why it generally costs more (your mileage has obviously varied). Given your number of hours in a variety of aircraft, I'm sure they'd consider you a safe risk even if you were flying a barn door with an Evinrude on it. But for the newly minted pilot, the insurance company will likely require a tailwheel endorsement with a certain minimum number of hours, and without it you won't be covered.
