Of course if you ever land this thing really hard on that leg, the discontinuity in the leg where the old holes were drilled will likely be the place it breaks, and if it breaks you may have prop/crank/spar issues afterwards. There is something to be said for new gear legs if you ditch the rearward extending plates idea.
