Thanks Allen. It got the idea from Larrys plane. This will he an extra light. 
Wicks had a setup an all in one navigation/strobe light unit. for the wingtips. 
This also has a rear facing white light. I think it's in the mid $300 range.?

Be careful, most of those LED's only put out light in a 90 degree cone. That's 
why certified LED's have elements pointing in different directions. Per 
regulations, you need coverage of 140 degrees horizontally and 180 degrees 
vertically for the tail (white) light. You MIGHT be able to use it if it's 
inside a white lens, but check to be sure that it will fit.
