I looked at the AS5046 drawing earlier this morning, and it didn't have spar
dimensions, so I assumed the AS5048 didn't either. They do. They are both
labeled as 2.16", just for information, I suppose, and you are correct, that
ain't right! Yes, I should know, since I made those drawings, but that a
long time ago, and was quite an ordeal getting all the geometry right... I
had to do it many times to get it right. It's not as easy as it looks! I
don't see where I called out a center and an outer template...my thinking
was to simply use the same template for both places, two on each side for
the center section, and one on the large-chord end for the outer wings. And
that's exactly how I made mine. I didn't think to change the spars, and
even if it did occur to me, I'm not sure I'd have gone to the trouble, given
that I already had one done that was "good enough for KR work".

Looking at KR2S drawing W1 (a D-size drawing), the spars clearly nest.
The drawings (KR2 manual pages 19 and 21) show spar cap dimensions as
2-5/32" and 1-15/16". The difference is .21875", an appreciable gap, but
not really enough to fit two 1/8" thick WAFs in! Of course there are also
two layers of 3.5mm plywood facing in the mix, but that's not going to
change the weird number. Go figure.

I looked back at an early picture I made of that period of my construction,
hoping to see a picture that would explain it, but no joy there. The photo
was made in 1997, over 16 years ago. Hopefully I'll be forgiven for not
remembering the little details, but my guess is I could also see that it
wasn't going to add up, and simply cut the spars to fit properly...
