A combination starter/generator would be ideal in theory but issues I see with the one pictured are:
One, the wire gauge for the starter circuit would need to be larger than the charge circuit. I doubt very much that 25 amps would allow sufficient starting torque. Two, I suspect the pulley belt would not be able to transmit the starting torque required without slipping or even breaking. Having said that though I have seen combination units somewhere (??) that are gear driven.....or maybe a toothed belt????
