Well, there is about six years that I have being hearding about
changing
Kopete to use telepathy. In the pre KDE 4.x era Kopete's developes postponed
features in the current code base to dedicate to porting Kopete to telepathy.
Unfortunately that did not end up well, today we do not have a telepathy
capable Kopete neither we have a telepathy application (or plasmoid) with as
many features as Kopete has. Some time ago someone created a telepathy plugin
for Kopete, but I also have not heard from it for quite some time.
The idea of using telepathy is great, the problem is that nobody is
commited to finish the job, people starts an effort to implement it, but does
not finish it because of lack of time or whatever. I would like to see more
things happening in Kopete, I like it and do not want to use other IM
application. But I also do not have time to work more on it, I have plent of
problems to solve in Plasma NM and in my real life job. I still try to apply
patches from reviewboard.kde.org to Kopete. I use two that still needs some
work until I can apply them.
