I am afraid it would be a bit odd because in this case it won't be
attached to any particular UI element:
When you click the post-it icon, the status widget shows up like a
combobox would, so it makes sense to use a border-less window. In the
case of a menu item, by the time you click the item, the menu is gone,
so there's no UI element to "attach" to.
