AFAIK all the item data is already available in the database, so adding it to yet another index makes not a lot of sense? We "only" need to have biblio/auth data in external indices (Zebra/ES) because doing a proper search on MARC data stored in a blob in the DB is highly inefficient (or at least that's my interpretation) Hm, maybe it makes some combined search easier (so searching for biblios with some item data)?
