Public bug reported:

installed Mint from usb drive, worked perfectly kernel was 6.8.0-51 sound
device was Realtek ALC3266
driver HDA-intel PCH at 0xddc28000 irq 150

updated kernel to 6.8.0-54 no sound only dummy output shows -
alsa mixer shows card as HDA Intel PCH chip Realtek Generic, mixer bars show
output, but no audio from speakers or headphones

I am currently using 0-51 kernel as I write this. I will reboot with new kernel
and get debug outputs using commands you suggest below
I have reproduced this bug 3 times by reinstalling the original linux mint
package, and updating the kernel and losing sound.

computer is dell product:0w7v82 ver:A01 which is Dell Precision 5510

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
