Sounds like we're in the same boat, then. I don't think any global shortcuts worked for me, either (like alt-f2), but alt-tab is naturally the one I can't live without. I'll probably do the same thing tomorrow or so. Gotta love zfs snapshots for rolling something like that back if it doesn't work!
