The big dark secret is that KDE 4.1 isn't going to be fully end-user ready. There are a lot of basic features still missing, and I expect a few other features will be "turned off" just to temporarily stop bugs for the release. KDE release engineering is engaged in "release inflation". I expect 4.1.0 to be the quality equivalent of 3.0.0.
