Hi, I installed KDE 4.0.98 from area51. It starts, showing an empty desktop with the hard disk icon, but hangs with a black screen after clicking the mouse. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to the rescue...
I'm running KDE4 as test user kde4 on FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE i386. I do get a lot of messages from kded about KDirWatchPrivate on the console.
