However, I still think that, from an usability perspective, it would be better
to show the symbolic link arrow/icon even if it's not actually a link. But I
understand that it would be *technically* incorrect since *technically* it is
not a link.

Do you think it would be reasonable for me to create a separate RfE to add a
new Entry in .desktop files such as "X-KDE-TreatAsLink"?
This way, apps could hint in the .desktop file that they want to be treated as
links (and, therefore, show the arrow).
