The problem with the thumbnails does not have to be a bug. The thumbnails may
come from a preview or thumbnail image within the image that does not contain a
frame. The software that created the frame may not have updated the preview or
thumbnail images.
A test with the frame function of the digiKam image editor shows no problem.
You may want to create a new bug report and add the image as a sample.
