Bug ID: 488185 Summary: Screen freezes permanently until reboot if you attempt to "interrupt" screen disabling from inactivity Classification: Plasma Product: kscreenlocker Version: 6.0.5 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: kdebugtracking.nag...@passinbox.com Target Milestone: --- *** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY If you move the mouse roughly 1-3 seconds after the screen has turned off from inactivity, it may be frozen and I have been unable to find any way to fix it without rebooting. Everything in the background still works, as far as I can tell from audio. I can still switch to TTY and it will work, and I can still run commands from it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Wait for screen to be disabled by inactivity 2. Move mouse "soon" after screen goes black, maybe 1-3 seconds after 3. Screen may or may not be frozen OBSERVED RESULT Screen will be permanently frozen on the login window with clock partly through it's animation EXPECTED RESULT Screen will turn back on either with the login screen working properly or not presented SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 6.5.0-35-generic (64-bit) (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Observed on two devices: PC running X11 and proprietary nVidia drivers, laptop running Wayland and default Nouveau driver.
