Unfortunately X isn't constant. My understanding of C and C++ packing rules is
that X is the size of the largest element. The word size would be a fairly good
approximation to that.
Another case that we could give more details about is padding, i.e., if we see
fewer than 8 bytes uninitialized at the end.
