Bug ID: 479964 Summary: Lock screen showing PKCS#11 error and referring to smart cards and fingerprint when neither have been set up Classification: Plasma Product: kscreenlocker Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: sreeharisreed...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Essentially, I am running KDE Plasma 6.0 RC1, and I have noticed that whenever I lock my screen, I see some messages show up under the password prompt. At first, it says "(or scan your fingerprint on the reader)" then under it it says "Error initializing PKCS#11 module", but then that second message underneath becomes "(or scan your smartcard)". When the PKCS#11 error comes up, it shakes for attention, then it silently switches itself out for the smartcard message. I do not have any fingerprint hardware or smart card readers, and these messages did not show up when I was running Plasma 5. I installed KDE Plasma 6 through the NixOS flake (https://github.com/nix-community/kde2nix), and enabled the plasma6 system module. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install NixOS unstable with flakes and bring in the Plasma 6 flake and enable the Plasma 6 Desktop 2. Log into a KDE Plasma session 3. Lock the screen OBSERVED RESULT The previously mentioned error messages display under the password prompt. EXPECTED RESULT I would expect none of the messages to come up since I don't have a fingerprint or smartcard reader, and I would be concerned if a module that should have been loaded failed to load properly. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: NixOS 24.05 unstable (nixos-unstable latest), Linux 6.7.0, KDE Plasma 6.0 RC1 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.92.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.248.0 Qt Version: 6.6.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Nothing really -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
