I had a similar problem with my computer.
If I use the lock screen, the computer lags. When unlocked it becomes a black
screen and only a cursor is visible.
If I just use power management to turn off the screen automatically, there is
no problem.
My computer only has a single screen and no NVIDIA graphics card installed.
