Though I am sure that you can do this test - contrary to many other bugs - easily yourself: Just change the resolution, re-allocate your desktop icons, change the resolution back and see if you obtain the earlier desktop. In a nutshell: Switch between resolutions. Of course, I'd be most happy to see and comment on a video clip showing the behaviour(s) of the desktops across resolution changes. It would be a great step ahead if this worked, and probably would help the large majority of us users. The next step then would be to work on an algorithm to place the desktop items in a reasonable way on desktop with a new, not yet encountered resolution.
