I've been trying to reproduce this one again.
Installed a number of icon themes, started switching between them and running
plasmahell --replace when the theme did not apply fully, aka, some of the icons
from the previous theme were still in use.
I could not trigger a crash even on a wayland session.
So i'll asume that whatever was triggering this one is alreay fixed and that
the icon themes not applying correctly is another issue.
