Bug ID: 428882 Summary: Cannot switch to any virtual terminal other than tty1 Product: neon Version: unspecified Platform: Neon Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org Reporter: jnoricha...@blueyonder.co.uk CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Key combinations [LCtrl]-[Alt]-FN {N = (2..9)} do not switch to login prompt on ttyN STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start KDE Neon. 2. Before or after GUI login with sddm greeter, press [LCtrl]-[Alt]-FN (N=2..9). 3. Screen goes black, after ~10s the monitor reports "no signal". 4. press [LCtrl]-[Alt]-F1 - greeter or GUI is re-displayed. OBSERVED RESULT Exactly the same behaviour is shown if I issue this command in konsole: jonathan@Odin:~$ sudo chvt 2 There is no error output from chvt in konsole. EXPECTED RESULT A login prompt for ttyN should be displayed: this *is* what happens when I boot into the live image from which I installed neon 5.20 User Edition a few days ago, so I conclude that it is not a keyboard issue. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.20 User Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.0.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75.0 Qt Version: 5.15.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -There is nothing relevant in var/log/syslog, unless perhaps this is: Nov 9 10:41:45 Odin systemd[1]: Condition check resulted in getty on tty2-tty6 if dbus and logind are not available being skipped. -All the tty console device files are present: jonathan@Odin:~$ ls -l /dev/tty[1-9] crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 1 Nov 9 10:42 /dev/tty1 crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 2 Nov 9 10:42 /dev/tty2 crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 3 Nov 9 10:42 /dev/tty3 crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 4 Nov 9 10:42 /dev/tty4 crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 5 Nov 9 10:42 /dev/tty5 crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 6 Nov 9 10:42 /dev/tty6 crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 7 Nov 9 10:41 /dev/tty7 crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 8 Nov 9 10:41 /dev/tty8 crw--w---- 1 root tty 4, 9 Nov 9 10:41 /dev/tty9 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
