Hmm, that is not what I'm experiencing. Using Konversation v1.7.2, in Settings -> Configure Notifications, for "Nick written", "Show a message in a popup" and "Mark taskbar entry" are checked. Nonetheless, when someone writes my nick, I see a temporary popup (if I happen to be there), but the notification counter is not incremented.
