After years of unbearable trouble with wandering icons, where the Mageia teams
did their best they could and those from KDE team tirelessly saying that as we
do not have their latest plasma version they could do nothing, I made one last
attempt at the beginning of this year to try to help the community which ended
in yet another failure and I got involved (impossible to find the Bug report
number with all the groupings) with Mageia to report on what is happening on
version 10.
Three months after migrating to Mageia 10 here is the point:
During the installation (suspecting what would happen next) I installed with a
KDE/Plasma desktop for operation on Wayland instead of X11 as in the past.
Result: no more wandering Icons! But…
-A hassle for the initial installation, the screens not being able to work
together because after the initial installation a lot of complementary programs
and libraries were missing
-Deplorable display quality because the Wayland solution is to find a common
denominator between the two screens in order to accommodate the same number of
icons in both.
In my case: eDP1 1980x1020 integrated screen, and the 1680x1050 external screen
(nominal 1680x1050 ) is positioned at 1280x720 and scale 66.6667% !! =
Deplorable quality.
-Impossible to change this for the moment as xwayland, sway, do not work for
the moment. I haven't found yet how to do.
Notice: i've the same on a similaire computer configuration powered by Debian
