Bug ID: 527610
Summary: %SIGNATURE in a message template drops the images of
an HTML signature
Classification: Applications
Product: kmail2
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: composer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When the signature of an identity is inline HTML with an embedded image, and
the
signature is inserted via %SIGNATURE in a custom message template instead of
the
automatic signature insertion, the image is lost. For a new message the result
is
even plain text only.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Identity > Signature: enable "Use HTML", insert an image into the signature.
2. Identity > Templates: enable custom templates, put %SIGNATURE in "New
Message".
3. Settings > Composer: disable "Automatically insert signature".
4. Compose a new message.
OBSERVED RESULT
The signature text is inserted as plain text, without the image.
EXPECTED RESULT
The HTML signature is inserted including its image, the same as with automatic
signature insertion.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2
KMail: 26.08.1
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
TemplateParserJob::getHtmlSignature() returns the signature HTML with
<img src="name.png"> but never attaches Signature::embeddedImages(), unlike
RichTextComposerNg::insertSignature(). In addition slotExtractInfoDone() always
clears the HTML body for a new message, since there is no HTML original.
Use case: a long signature with a banner for new messages and a short text
signature for replies, via per-identity templates.
