I just tried it on a VM with 6.8.0 on EndeavourOS. It also worked fine there
with the same steps.

AppImage as a format does not directly support the .desktop files that Desktop
Environments need for things like launcher integration and task manager
actions. It's not incompatible with it, but does nothing to maintain this. It's
up to the user to to ensure that a proper .desktop file exists in a suitable
location, and matches the current version of the appimage that you have
installed. That's why some people use one of the many AppImage maintenance
tools that handle this for them.

If this worked for you, it's likely that you installed such a .desktop file at
some point in the past, but it may no longer compatible with the current
AppImage version of that application.

Does it show up in your launcher (Application Launcher/Menu/Dashbaord)? Can you
post the output of running (in a terminal) kwindowprop and clicking the window
of the appimage app? Can you post the .desktop file for it?
