I wanted to add my experience with what appears to be a related issue after
upgrading to KDE Plasma 6.8.0 on CachyOS.

After the upgrade, I noticed significant sluggishness when opening Plasma UI
elements, particularly the application launcher, calendar popup, and other
dropdown menus. The animations were noticeably slow and laggy, making the
desktop feel much less responsive.

Interestingly, the issue affected **both of my monitors**, even though only my
smaller secondary monitor was configured to use "Prefer color efficiency."

**My setup:**
- OS: CachyOS (Arch-based)
- KDE Plasma: 6.8.0
- Graphics platform: Wayland
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
- Main monitor: Acer XV272U W2, 2560×1440, 240 Hz, set to "Prefer color
accuracy"
- Secondary monitor: Smaller 15-inch display, initially set to "Prefer color
efficiency"
- Different scaling factors between the two displays (100% primary, 160%
secondary)

**What fixed the problem:**

I changed only the secondary monitor from "Prefer color efficiency" to "Prefer
color accuracy," matching the primary monitor.

The improvement was immediate. All of the previously sluggish launcher and
popup animations became fast and responsive again on **both monitors**, without
changing anything else.

What's especially interesting is that the primary monitor was already set to
"Prefer color accuracy," yet it still experienced the same sluggishness until I
changed the setting on the secondary display.

This seems consistent with the observation in Comment 3 regarding mixed
color-processing preferences across multiple monitors. It may indicate that the
setting on one display can affect KWin's overall rendering or compositing
performance across other displays.

I haven't isolated the underlying cause, but I wanted to document this because
the difference was dramatic and the workaround completely resolved the issue in
my configuration.
