Bug ID: 527211
Summary: System settings for fonts modifies
$HOME/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf without user's
request in some cases
Classification: Applications
Product: systemsettings
Version First 6.7.4
Reported In:
Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: kcm_fonts
Assignee: [email protected]

Target Milestone: ---

Example $HOME/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf which triggers the problem
I encountered a weird bug - when $HOME/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf has
certain entries, like for example:
```
<match target="pattern">
<test name="family" qual="any">
<string>DejaVu Sans Mono</string>
</test>
<!-- append DejaVu Sans to the family list ahead of others -->
<edit name="family" mode="append" binding="strong">
<string>DejaVu Sans</string>
</edit>
<!-- append 'Book' to the style list to match the specific variant -->
<edit name="style" mode="append" binding="strong">
<string>Book</string>
</edit>
</match>
```
simply opening font configuration entry in System Settings UI messes up `
$HOME/.config/fontconfig` file without you even pressing Apply or anything else
adding a bunch of nonsense and duplicate entries.
I attach a file $HOME/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf file on which it can be
reproduced and the resulted garbled file into which it turns by simply opening
a settings UI.
