Summary:
Regression in 6.8: with Sort=Manually + Keep launchers separate=off + Hide
launchers after application startup=on, running pinned apps no longer open in
their pin position
Description:
In Plasma ≤ 6.7 the following combination worked as expected:
Sort: Manually
Keep launchers separate: off
Hide launchers after application startup: on
When a pinned application was launched, the launcher icon disappeared and the
running task appeared exactly in the place of the pin.
After upgrading to Plasma 6.8 the launcher is still correctly hidden, but the
running task is inserted according to the “New tasks appear” setting (in my
case “To the right”) instead of staying at the pin position.
Steps to reproduce:
Use Icons-and-Text Task Manager.
Set the Behaviour options exactly as shown below.
Pin several applications.
Launch one of the pinned applications.
Observed result:
Launcher is hidden, but the task appears at the position dictated by “New tasks
appear” (To the right / To the left).
Expected result:
Launcher is hidden and the task replaces it / appears in the same position
where the pin was (as it did in 6.7 and earlier).
Behaviour settings used:
Group: By program name
Clicking grouped task: Cycles through tasks
Combine into single button: off
Sort: Manually
Keep launchers separate: off
Hide launchers after application startup: on
Clicking active task: Minimizes the task
Middle-clicking any task: Opens a new window
Scrolling behavior: Does nothing
Show only tasks: From the current desktop + From the current activity
When panel is hidden: Unhide when a window wants attention
New tasks appear: To the right
Additional information:
This combination previously produced the classic “open in pin place” behaviour.
The regression appeared with the upgrade to 6.8.
