Still reproducible on a newer stack than the original report: Dolphin 26.08.2,
KDE Frameworks 6.31.0, Qt 6.12.0, Plasma 6.7.5, Wayland, CachyOS.
One extra detail that may help narrow it down. Dragging the right edge of the
last
column header is registered, but the width does not go to the column. While I
drag,
a horizontal scrollbar appears at the bottom of the view and shrinks again, and
the
visible width of the last column never changes. It looks like the resize is
applied
to the empty area after the last column instead of to the column itself.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin and set the view to Details.
2. Make sure several columns are visible, for example Name, Size, Modified,
Tags, Type.
3. Drag the right edge of the last column header (Type in my case, but it
happens
with any column that sits in the last position).
4. Watch the horizontal scrollbar at the bottom of the view while dragging.
OBSERVED RESULT
The scrollbar appears and changes width as I drag, but no column changes size.
The
last column keeps its previous width.
EXPECTED RESULT
The last column resizes like any other column, and the total content width
stays
consistent with the column widths.
WORKAROUND
Drag the target column one position to the left, resize it there, then drag it
back
to the last position. The width survives the move, which suggests the stored
width
is fine and only the drag on the last position is misrouted.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Not tied to a column type. Any column becomes un-resizable once it is the
last
visible one.
- Matches comment 3: it starts after another column has been resized first.
- ~/.config/dolphinrc has [DetailsMode] with LeftPadding=0, PreviewSize=22,
RightPadding=1653. I have not tested whether that value matters yet, so treat
it
as a lead rather than a finding.
