CL <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #3 from CL <[email protected]> --- I'm experiencing what appears to be the same issue on Kubuntu 26.04 LTS. **Environment:** - OS: Kubuntu 26.04 LTS (Wayland) - KDE Plasma: 6.6.6 - KDE Frameworks: 6.24.0 - Qt: 6.10.2 - Gwenview: 25.12.3 - Exiv2: 0.28.8 - Kernel: 7.0.0-38-generic - Filesystem: pCloudDrive (cloud-mounted directory) **Observed behavior:** When opening PNG images from pCloudDrive, Gwenview frequently becomes unresponsive for several seconds. Sometimes it recovers; other times it crashes. I have not been able to reproduce this behavior with images stored on my local filesystem. Gwenview is already configured to sort files by **Name**, so changing the sorting method does not resolve the issue. **Crash analysis:** Ubuntu Apport captured a 127 MB core dump. Examining it with GDB revealed the following call stack: ```text #0 __pthread_kill_implementation() #1 __pthread_kill_internal() #2 __GI___pthread_kill() #3 __GI_raise() #4 KCrash::defaultCrashHandler() #5 <signal handler called> #6 __syscall_cancel_arch() #7 __internal_syscall_cancel() #8 __syscall_cancel() #9 __GI___libc_read() #10 _IO_new_file_underflow() #11 __GI__IO_file_xsgetn() #12 __GI__IO_fread() #13 Exiv2::isJpegType() #14 Exiv2::ImageFactory::open() #15 Exiv2::ImageFactory::open() #16 Gwenview::Exiv2ImageLoader::load() #17 ?? #18 Gwenview::TimeUtils::dateTimeForFileItem() #19 Gwenview::SortedDirModel::lessThan() ``` The crash report identifies `SIGABRT`, with KDE's `KCrash::defaultCrashHandler()` appearing in the stack. The backtrace indicates that Gwenview was performing a synchronous filesystem read through Exiv2 while processing directory entries. **Additional observations:** - Images are stored under `~/pCloudDrive/Automatic Upload/Google Pixel 7 Pro/Pictures/Signal/`. - The issue is intermittent but frequent. - Gwenview may freeze and recover without crashing. - When a crash occurs, the application is typically unresponsive for several seconds beforehand. - Sorting by Name has been the existing configuration throughout. **Conclusion:** This appears consistent with the synchronous Exiv2 filesystem reads described in this bug report. The behavior suggests that cloud filesystem latency can block Gwenview's UI thread during metadata processing, even when sorting by Name. Please let me know if additional debugging information or testing would help. I can provide further GDB output if needed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
