Bug ID: 526576
Summary: Open/save dialog: moving the mouse after
double-clicking a folder selects files in the new
folder
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
Product: frameworks-kio
Version First 6.30.0
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Open/save dialogs
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
When I open a folder with a double-click, the second click behaves like a held
button with no drag threshold, so even the slightest movement selects the item
under the cursor instead of being ignored.
When saving a file, unless I'm paying full attention to my clicks, I
occasionally select an existing file by accident, which replaces the name of
the file I'm saving. I then have to rename it back, or I get the overwrite
prompt.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Open any Save file dialog.
2. Double-click a folder.
3. Without releasing the second click, move the mouse.
OBSERVED:
A file in the new folder is selected, and its name replaces the Name field. The
Name field takes the first file the cursor touches, but the selection keeps
following the cursor while the button is held.
EXPECTED:
No selection until a new click. Like in Dolphin, it doesn't select anything no
matter how far the mouse moves.
NOTES:
- Also reproducible in KWrite's Save As and Open File dialogs.
- Not affected by StartDragDist (tested at 24).
- Possibly related to bug 443169 (back/forward buttons in KDirOperator).
ENVIRONMENT:
Plasma: 6.7.5
KDE Frameworks (kio): 6.30.0
Qt: 6.11.2
Session: Wayland
Distro: CachyOS
Also seen in Firefox via xdg-desktop-portal-kde 6.7.5
