Bug ID: 526575
Summary: Enter keyup event is delivered to the previously
focused application after unlocking on Wayland
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.6.6
Reported In:
Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: input
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run Plasma 6.6.6 on Wayland.
2. Run:
wev -f wl_keyboard:key
3. Focus the `wev` window.
4. Lock the screen.
5. Enter the password and press Enter normally to unlock.
OBSERVED RESULT
After unlock, `wev` shows an Enter key with "released" state, without any
corresponding "pressed" state.
If Enter is tapped extremely quickly during unlock, the problem does not occur.
Disabling keyboard key repeat in Plasma does not change the behavior.
This can also have visible side effects in applications that act on an
unmatched Enter `keyup`. For example, Google Voice in Firefox sends an unsent
message immediately after unlocking.
EXPECTED RESULT
If KWin consumes a key press while the screen is locked, it should also consume
the corresponding key release. A Wayland client should not receive an unmatched
key release after the screen unlocks.
ADDITIONAL INFO
There is a recent KWin change concerning key release/repeat handling around the
lock screen:
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/commit/d54f96a6875602c15f3149c3747d239f0081a36f
but I have not verified whether it addresses this specific event-delivery
issue.
