DESCRIPTION
Currently in koko has location filtering under the subheadings 'countries',
'states' and 'cities'. These subheadings are not applicable to locations tagged
in the UK which does not have states. England and Wales are incorrectly listed
under states where they should be countries. Likewise the 'city' incorrectly
contains both counties and cities.
This isn't helpful for searching for a particular location.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Koko/Photos with location tagged photo in various locations different
2. Open Countries, States and Cities & check the contents
3.
EXPECTED RESULT
I am not sure how best to handle this, but i have two suggestions:
Location filtering should select the correct regional terminology for each
regional tag being filtered and only show the relevant ones. It could be
adapted based on locale, although this would likely seem odd for countries who
do use states or other terms.
This may get convoluted with numerous countries using different systems. For
instance, Canadian provinces (which also get incorrectly grouped as 'states').
OR
Something use like a hierarchical Menu only listing locations found in location
tags side-stepping the issue. This may be cleaner as it accounts for all
regional conventions.
But does not fit in with how places/date/time filtering is currently done.
i.e
> Europe
> Germany
> Bavaria
> Munich
> United Kingdom
> England
> Yorkshire
> York
> Scotland
This would also be useful for selecting smaller & smaller locations, i.e.
cities and towns within a particular county/state/country.
