Bug ID: 525465
Summary: Wobbly Windows acts differently based on your FPS.
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: NixOS

Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor

The first part of the video shows 60Hz, and the second shows 500Hz.
DESCRIPTION
Wobbly windows, particularly the amount of 'ripple', varies greatly based on
FPS differences. This is mostly noticeable on extremely high refresh rate
monitors. To be specific, the higher the refresh rate, the less ripple and
wobble, regardless of your configurations for wobbly windows. This does,
however, also make it more stable on higher FPS-- I am completely unable to
'break' my windows on 500 fps, but it is rather easy to on 60 fps.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable wobbly windows
2. Test on low/normal fps (e.g. 60)
3. Test on high fps (e.g. 240 or 500)
OBSERVED RESULT
Vastly different jiggle patterns and strengths across different framerates.
EXPECTED RESULT
Consistent jiggle patterns and strengths across different framerates.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window): NixOS 26.11
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.29.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Quite confident this is purely refresh rate, as lowering my refresh rate fixes
it, my other friend on a 60hz monitor does not experience it, and my laptop on
around 120hz does not seem to experience vast amounts of toned down wobble.
