Comparison of stock vs custom digital clock widgets
DESCRIPTION
The digital clock needs to have less forced padding so that I can make it
bigger. A revised version of this widget lets me make the font size
significantly bigger in the same panel without looking broken or bad (see
attachment). Basically, using a 46px panel, I am forced to have the clock font
be no bigger than 10pt (with Fira Sans Book) which is really small and hard to
read at a glance on a 15.6" 1080p laptop display. The "Event Calendar" widget
(on the right in the attachment) allows the text to be much bigger and more
comfy to read.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have digital clock widget on panel.
2. Set font size to manual
3. Set to 11pt font, but see no change because some padding requirement forces
maximum font size to 10pt font in the configuration described above.
OBSERVED RESULT
I am limited to 10pt "Fira Sans Book" font on a 44px panel on a 1080p 15.6"
display despite lots of padding around the clock. There is plenty of room for a
bigger clock.
EXPECTED RESULT
I should be able to make the digital clock as big as I want, or a lot bigger
due to far less restrictive padding configuration.
