According to the code, it should show the favicons, if there is no icon
specified in the .desktop file.
If you can confirm this works, then remove the first four lines from the
function
QIcon XWindowTasksModel::Private::icon(WId window)
defined at
https://cgit.kde.org/plasma-workspace.git/tree/libtaskmanager/xwindowtasksmodel.cpp
