Bug ID: 516578
Summary: Make all mountpoints trashed files accessible under
one/single Trash
Classification: I don't know
Product: kde
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR

Target Milestone: ---
AI:
"gio trash" command (ran from within konsole) follows the FreeDesktop trash
spec.
When the file lives on a separate mount (e.g. /abc/) the spec tells the system
to create a drive‑specific trash directory – /abc/.Trash‑1000/ (the UID part
may differ). Inside it you’ll find the usual two sub‑folders:
files/ – the actual trashed data
info/ – a .trashinfo file that records the original path and the deletion time
Dolphin (and the other KDE file managers) read only the user‑wide trash at
~/.local/share/Trash. They do not merge the drive‑specific .Trash‑1000
locations into the GUI’s “Trash” view, so the items you deleted on /abc/ won’t
appear there and you can’t restore them through the normal “Restore” button .
To get the files back you have to do it manually.
Dolphin’s GUI cannot restore files that gio trash placed in a
mount‑point‑specific .Trash‑1000 folder; you need to retrieve them manually
from that directory.
My request is for you to please make it friendly so all mountpoints are meged
into one Trash accessible via Dolphin.
