            Bug ID: 506429
Summary: digiKam 8.6 DLNA server freezes after "upnp devices
                    created: 0" (regression from 8.5)
    Classification: Applications
           Product: digikam
      Version First 8.6.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: Microsoft Windows
                OS: Microsoft Windows
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: minor
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Plugin-Generic-MediaServer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

After installing digiKam 8.6.0 on Windows, the DLNA server fails to start
properly. Issue seems analogous to 505632
(reported for MacOS) - version digiKam-8.7.0-20250628T130130-Qt6-Win64 seems to
resolve the issue for Windows (more info on that point is further on).

The log shows:

[14436] digikam.general: 1 albums selected
[14436] digikam.mediaserver: Setup Media Server icons
[14436] digikam.mediaserver: Upnp device created: 0

Immediately after this message, the application becomes unresponsive and
freezes. This issue did not occur in version 8.5, where DLNA worked as expected
on the same system and network. This is a clean install of digikam, with a few
test photos added in a single album.

Steps to Reproduce:

Install digiKam 8.6.0 on Windows (fresh install, default settings).
Add a small test album with a few photos.
Open Tools → Share with DLNA.
Select an album and click Start.

Observe that the log shows upnp devices created: 0, and the application
freezes.

Expected Result: DLNA server should start and be discoverable by clients on the
local network.
Actual Result: DLNA server does not start; application freezes after UPnP
initialization.

Additional Info:

Network is set to Private.
Firewall rules for digiKam are enabled (both Private and Public).
Tested with and without Windows firewall.

Debug logs captured via DebugView (after setting $env:QT_LOGGING_RULES =
"digikam*=true" to have the logs more verbose).

Reproduced consistently with a clean config and fresh install.

Following the advice in issue:
505632, digikam, digikam crashes when trying to start a DLNA media server on
mac (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=505632)
I tested version digiKam-8.7.0-20250628T130130-Qt6-Win64 - the problem seems to
be resolved.
