You need en enable the tracks by clicking in the track tags (V1, V2, .A1, ..). Shift+A will toggle all tracks from inactive to active.. The tags will then turn green and mixes will work. This allows you to add mixed only to audio for example. However we really need to display some informative feedback in cases where no track is enabled.
