Interestingly, their findings are that the bug arises in combination of mate desktop and nvidia (which is my setup as well). And they found that the env vars are being set by mate through a setting that can be changed in dconf (via `dconf-editor`): > / org / mate / desktop / font-rendering / dpi set the value there for what will become the value of QT_FONT_DPI after restarting the session (I have not confirmed this yet, but it was indeed set to 90 for me, which I now changed to 96).
